I am not quite sure in which section this post should go, but since it will kinda contain a suggestion, I decided for the suggestion forum.

Well the topic's title says it: I am very eager to actually see something working, but I did not see a post in the forum after @Countpain's response to my last suggestion - so I wonder what we 'normal' people can do to actually help with the creation of this game.

By what I understood so far, we can:
1. create oles/pictures whose can be used ingame
2. use the npc-chipping tool to puzzle own npcs together
3. write new quest line dialogues

Well and then are some things like 'make the forum active and add some forum games' well, but this may only entertain but not actually help in progressing.

But I am looking in some more things that we can do. And by 'we' I refer to a group that may not be that good in the stuff mentioned above but who are definitelly eager to help aswell.

1) Well in my case.... why I am not really offering in doing the game's art work is because you for sure don't want me to do it. Believe me. Here is an example of my drawing feat (@QueenC please do not look at this picture, you may get nightmares):

What can we do to help getting this game started faster? 2uoume62
It is an unimpressed Lion - @Lion asked for one, so here is it. Maybe it gets added to the game, but let us hope this guy won't  Laughing

2. Well, the chipping looks interesting in first place but I kinda miss something there.... like creating a completely new face or new body, not just chip a char together out of already existing parts. Maybe it is just me, but I get very fast bored in this program, though I gave it a shot and the result was that forum avatar I am using now (though I had to past-rework it with paint to change it enough that this forum accepts it).

3. Hmmm.... I kinda tried to add a quest  by introducing the NPC I created (see argument 2), but I kinda lack of ideas to add new ones. The difficulty is that I first need to know where we are, how this world that the game is looks like, how the language is, how the moralical understanding is, etc etc etc. Once I see the surroundings I can come more easily with a quest via 'oh here could be a quest holding place that goes so and so'. But without having that base I could only guess how this world might be and taking the risk that it is completely different to what the creator of this game wants. And I deny to make quests like 'Go to X and kill Y monsters, then go to Z' because everyone can fill a whole page with this dense stuff in no time.

--- Suggestion/Question ---

Sooo... again the thing: What can we do?

I like to suggest a few things that I suggested in other topics but morely as side notes:
4) Allow us to help translating this game into other languages. For starting we might just translate the interface drag-overs or the skill descriptions.

5) Would it be possible to get hands on a chipping editor like the one Hydro showed in one video? Of course people can only create map suggestions that would have to be confirmed first, but this would also allow that good concepts could be added or get added after changing them a bit to fit better.

This would allow users to bring some effords into the game while the current OL team has less work and can focus on other stuff more.
So in conclusion it could be like this: You say you want to add a new desert wilderniss which has this, that and those and then people can bring in their suggestions by actually delivering a ready-to-go-desert-version. Then you can decide which are qualified, and which of the qualified can or can not be used for this or that purpose.

6) Suggesting stuff:
Is there a certain direction where you need some brainstorming after reaching a dry path? So people could add suggestion for a certain thing to liven it up a bit and get things more active here in the forums.

~uh, actually I planned to write like 7 lines here, and it got another wall of text again. Hmmm seems I am unable to hold myselfe back once my mind is flowing :3

I wouldn't hold your breath. Seems this game is on its way to becoming another dead one.

Those are definitely things you can do to contribute. Even if they aren't the greatest quality we still can base ideas off of them.

Here's a sample quest that will be implemented when the game launches:

QUEST wrote:Sudsy Situation
Paul: Hey Pal, you gotta help me! I was going in for my monthly bath and can't find my soap. I have a hot date with Betsy in a week and need to get on it fast!

Quest accept
You: I'll ask around
Paul: Great!

Quest decline
You: uh.... I've got other things to do.
Paul: I'll be here stinking up the place if you change your mind.

(Dialogue with Betsy)
Betsy: You're looking for soap? Funny you mention it because I just found a bar of it laying on the ground. You can have it. I don't bathe anyway.
You: okay, that's gross. Thanks!

Quest Incomplete
Paul: Find my soap yet?
You: Still looking.
Paul: Ask around. I'm sure someone's seen it.

Quest Complete
Paul: what?! you found it?!
You: You wouldn't believe who I found it from... you know what, it's not important.

Feel free to create your own quests that might spark ideas. The fact that you're concerned, posting, and willing to contribute makes you a great asset to the community.

http://No thank you. I've eaten enough.

@Voo:
Huh? What does proof this assumption from you?

Programming stuff can be very time intense, I know this myselfe and I understand why it takes long for a game to finally beeing able to get published. And do never missjudge the fixing aftermath that will delay things pretty often far over the announced release date.

But I agree with you, that it would be more nice to have the tension rised with more frequently feedback on how the progress is until now. (Like once in a week a brief summary? Just a whishing suggestion, nothing more.)

But instead of saying 'it is dead' I rather like to offer help if it gets sticky forward.

Countpain wrote:...quests...

Well, maybe I am not that good side quest writer. In my games I also concentrate morely on the main quest and once this string exists, I think of adding further stuff to make the main string more coulorful, so... let's just say I am not into it. But nevertheless I really wonna contribute something that brings this game forward.

We'll probably need a lot of things from:
- Art
- NPC Names
- NPC Ideas
- Enemy Names
- Enemy Ideas
- Location Names
- Location Ideas
- Music
- Sound Effects
- Gameplay Ideas

...and that's just what I can think of off the top of my head, there's a lot more to do.

Our team is very limited at the moment, but we are working our hardest to get everything done as quickly as we can without losing quality.

Well, in terms of music I can give you this page where many free music pieces exist and also many where the autor simply wants to get beeing mentioned in the credits or something. He does also make music by order if you have something in mind or simply want to have music that gives a certain atmosphere to something. You can find his music often beeing used in those Minecraft videos on Youtube.

I suggest to contact him for the details.

Here some not-so-serious ideas that came instantly into mind when reading it. But maybe it is a nice addition into the game if you want to add some fun elements:

Bigski Townski
It is a Russian themed large town somewhere with probably a tundra or cold area around.

Lè Vi L'lage
This village is pretty France themed, probably very sunny with many bread shops and everywhere painters drawing the landscape.

El Towno
This Spanish-themed town is the origin of all the bull-themed monsters in the world. People say that El Tawno once had an open void gate, too - into the bull-dimension. So make sure to now wear any red cloth around this village or you are faster spiked by bulls than you can scream for help!

Citytus Maximus
Once a big ancient city, this place is now just a ruin of an old Latin themed main city. Many raiders come to this place in persuit of the tresurs that are beeing rumored to still lay there, but can be said for sure are that many people die on this place robbed and killed by other raiders or haunted by ghosts of the killed or even the spirits of the old civilasation. So be warned and don't ever enter (as if this warning would prevent you anyways).

Pig Siddy
Though its name might be missleading and make you think that it would be a 'big city', this is actually an American themed range with a few farms and farmer houses. Though it may be peaceful, it is extremely dangerous since the inhabitants shoot down every stranger at sight without asking questions. One of them, a ranger called Chuck, is not even the monst dangerous but also the strongest human of all and he is also the reason why the void can not be seen 500 miles around this place. But do never even think that this makes you survive this place, there is not even one outside who ever was able to enter Pig Siddy and lived long enough to report how it looks inside. In fact this place is far worse than all voids together - mainly because of its guardian, Ranger Chuck.

Das Bergdorf
(well, since it is my own language, it is hard to think of an akward, obviously wrong name)
Das Bergdorf is a German themed village which can be found in mountains. The inhabitants all wear leather pants and are addicted into making music with big horns all day long. In the heart of Das Bergdorf you can find a local food store that is selling some long stripes of vegetables the inhabitants refer as 'Sauerkraut'.

The mountain with white stuff everywhere
It is a mountain covered with.. well white stuff. Many people who never have been there keep claiming that it would be snow - those who actually been there know that it is actually something different... something... salty. But it isnt any salt. It is void salt! Yea, void salt. Once you step over it, there will get void creatures summoned, because... er... well it is white, you know. If you are lucky though, it summons pink elephants instead.
Hmm, by telling this... I just remember that someone else did tell that rediculous story pretenting that the white stuff would be cokain, but this is just stupid, since everybody already knows that it is void salt, isn't it?

Restless Canyon
This is an unnatural, evil place where no living soul should be. Actually everything livingly that ever dares to rast gets transformed into one of 'them'. And 'they' are the undead - corpses who got corrupted or cursed by the void, unable to step into the afterlife and bound to stay in this canyon forever. Over the years these creatures lost all humanity and only are lead by a neverending killer instinct with only one flaw: They can only appear if something living stopped moving. The whole area is pitch black and lifeless - surely no place to make a picnick anyways.

Therefore:
The restless Canyon Chaser
This creature can be foundd in the Restless Canyon. It is usually invisible for the human eye, since these foes are initially dead and thus are half 'on the other side'. However, if something living passes nearby, they start fallowing it, still beeing invisible, but with a much higher speed than humans have due to their inhuman nature of the afterlife realm. This changes however, if the victim ever dares to stop. If this happens, then all restless Canyon Chasers become and also stay visible for attacking - even if the target tries to fee again. The only good thing about this: Once beeing visible, they are significantly slower than in their invisible form.
If this foe has no target around and if he is too far away from his spawn point, then he will teleport back to his spawn point - invisibly, waiting for his next victim.
